My passion has always melding the creative and analytical aspects of my brain to solve interesting problems. Like a lot of people here, I stumbled into the service design space. I have one degree in Politics and another in Interior Design. I always intuitively approached design from the human centred perspective so when I was introduced to design thinking and service design it all made sense. I haven't looked back. In Australia I worked for The Customer Experience Company leading strategy, service and digital design projects. I'm a recent transplant into the San Francisco Bay Area and I work for Level Studios as Design Strategy Lead but I'm currently embedded at Apple as a Senior UX Researcher.
I started the Library User Experience Co., which specializes in design strategy for libraries and the higher-ed web. I writes and speak a bunch, I'm actually a librarian, I host a podcast about this kind of stuff called “Metric”, and work on neat things at Springshare.
UX Designer & Instructor. Curious mind who loves to figure out how people think. I enjoy introducing the world of user experience to others by teaching and now writing. In my little spare time am trying to reconnect with my creative side and working on hand lettering.
From my base of operations in London's Southbank, I have worked for IBM since 2014 after completing my Masters in Service Design. The highlights including working in data visualization, IoT products and currently designing a new internal service for IBM employees. Whilst jet setting across the world teaching design thinking and dashboard design. I see service design as enabling teams to create the most value to customers, to each other and to business. In a previous life, I spent seven years understanding the ins and outs of business, engineering and management whilst installing and maintaining building services. I love exploring and drawing London and enjoy following my favorite team Manchester United, whilst managing the demands of my maine coon cat.
Though the industries have varied, and the titles have been about as diverse-sounding as it gets, my career and personal pursuits have always been centered around people. Professionally, it is my goal, regardless of the situation, to “make life easier and better” for those around me – whether customers or colleagues. Currently, I am a member of the Content Strategy team in Customer Insights and Experience Design (CIXD) group at Wells Fargo, based out of San Francisco. I am also in the process of helping stand up a service design practice within the group, and speak regularly, both within Wells Fargo and at industry events and conferences, on the topics of employee and customer engagement, empathy-building, the intersection of content strategy and service design, and design leadership. In addition to working, I am a full-time student in UC Irvine’s Graduate program for Human-Computer Interaction and Design (for only a few more months!), and in my “spare” time, I enjoy painting, writing, people-watching, and creating interactive art.
